So, Tony Blair has gone on record as saying he will only be judged by God for his decision to go to war in Iraq.
The leaders of the Muslim faith have warned that this will further divide Christians and Muslims. They’ve been criticised in the press for that as they have the same view of divine judgement as Tony Blair. Some have questioned his sanity, which I think is going a bit too far.
I think the fact that he’s made such a statement may show uncertainty about the rightness of his actions, hence the invocation of his faith, if he was so sure about things, he wouldn’t need to try to one up everyone like that.
The thing is, he’s an elected politician, what he’s saying amounts to a snub to both the British people and anyone who isn’t a Christian. It says, I don’t care what the people who I represent think, I answer to a higher power. Well, a politician answers to the electorate first, a large portion of who are non-Christian.
Speaking as a Non-Christian, I don’t subscribe to the belief of judgement at the end of the life. The actions of Bush & Blair will have repercussions for future generations, they need to start trying to make things right in this world, never mind hiding behind faith in another one.
The Rambling Taoist says:
I bet ‘ol Tony figured if the “invoking the almighty” strategy has worked so well for the shrub, it might as well work for him. Even though, like you, I don’t believe in Godly judgment, IF it turns out to be true after all, I don’t think I’d want to be in either of their shoes. I believe both would be in for a most rude awakening!

Hi Casey,
I checked your blog, sorry about the clashing layout! I really need to work more on my layout. My layout’s only evolving slowly as I’m not too confident with HTML and CSS at the moment, I was thinking of trying something like a straight line across the corners instead of rounded. I’m still undecided.
I also checked out your main site briefly and I love the layout! I’ll check it out more when I get five.

Hi there
Yep, there’s nothing like the smell of sanctimonious righteousness to make someone lose their lunch! Have to admit that both Bush and Blair give me the creeps - and make me very, very nervous about the state of the world.
Love your site. I’m new to blogging and am already thinking about adjusting my template
