I’ve been reflecting that a divided will halves your power. I’ve been trying it at work, if I do something else while waiting for calls, then I find that I can easily be off balance when they arrive. Whereas if I try not to surf or do anything not strictly work related, I find that I react much better. Even if it is work related, I find that it’s better to set time aside to concentrate on it fully.
This is another reason I dislike multitasking, I always think of it as the ability to do two things half as well.

This is one of my bug bears as well, I see others not really concentrating on what they are doing and doing a shoddy job of it. Why don’t they just do what they are doing?
I might well ask that to myself, why do I feel the need to distract myself from what I’m doing - watching TV while eating, losing myself in thought while driving…
I do know better, I know that activity is far more effective when it is given full attention, and yet still I don’t manage it very often. Why? Often boredom! That monkey mind says “hey, this is boring, let’s go off somewhere else, anywhere but here”. But here is where it’s at. Here is now, and there’s nothing else.
