Some author (unpublished or vanity-published, I'm not sure) added one book to his library, then started hitting hundreds of people with requests that same day. I'm not even sure what he hoped to accomplish there, as the friends function is not the main feature of the site by far. I've heard buzz very recently (among the WordPress community especially) about Facebook "fan sites." You can probably guess what those are. I'm thinking you'll see the spam sooner rather than later.
