I came across this Youtube video over the weekend. It’s just under an hour long and is a very interesting and worthwhile lecture on the spread of Buddhism.

Buddhism in the modern world
Skeptical, of course!
I’ve always been a skeptic at heart, this is the reason I moved to a very secular worldview and the reason I settled into Buddhism, it requires you to investigate. I think this an enormously important thing to have in our personal belief systems, that willingness to investigate our beliefs honestly and if we find it to be in error then to re-evaluate it.
So, after a heads up to a marvelous video from Peter over at The Buddha Diaries, being the nosy such and such that I am, I went hunting round.
I liked this video as well, it’s Michael Shermer from the Skeptical society, talking about them and a bit about what they do.
Enjoy!
The Corporation
This is a movie I borrowed from a friend a few weeks ago, it prompted me to examine and change some of my views about the world of work and also the economy we live in.
You can find it here on Google Video, but you can also buy it on DVD with 8 hours of extras from the website http://www.thecorporation.com/. This website also contains a lot of related material and is well worth a visit.
Prior to watching this, I viewed corporations as essentially benign, with one or two exceptions. I now realise how much I had my head in the sand, this view has been emphasised by the speed with which redunancies have been announced across our economy in our current economic state.
On Saturday I was out with friends and one was complaining about the two faced attitude of her manager in light to an incident in their office with a new worker. He was trying to keep her sweet and sweep her issue under the rug at the same time, which confused her. I remembered this film and her story started to make sense.
I highly recommend this movie, it’s 180 minutes long and worth every minute.
